Training
NFWI Training
If you are new to your committee role, we encourage you to complete the WI Core Module Training as part of your induction. It provides an excellent introduction to the WI, explains the WI Constitution and covers the NFWI policies and procedures that every WI is required to follow.
There is also a dedicated Treasurer Induction module. Even if you have been in the role for some time, it is well worth completing as a refresher and an opportunity to check that you are up to date with current guidance.
The training is available on VIA, the WI learning platform, at https://via.thewi.org.uk. Simply sign in using the same login details that you use for My WI. Once logged in, go to the Federation and WI Area, where you will find the three WI Officer Induction modules, together with the Treasurer induction module.
Completing all four modules takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, and you can work through them at your own pace.
The training will help you understand:
- that every WI is a charity and is governed by the NFWI's charitable objects
- the WI Constitution and how it applies to your WI
- how to use the WI Handbook to put the rules into practice
- the correct use of WI funds
- fundraising and the responsible handling of charitable money
- the role and responsibilities of the Treasurer
- the key documents you should be familiar with
- what it means to act as an agent on behalf of your WI
