Our Monthly Meetings

Bollywood dancing was demonstrated by Malika and her daughter Shravya at the first meeting of the year.

Before the members tried it out, Malika explained the history, traditions and the meaning behind some of the moves and once the members got up there was some pretty good ‘moving’ going on, including some fairly spectacular scarf work, by the end of the session.

Woodley WI had a really traditional Christmas party for our meeting on 12th December.

Mince pies and mulled wine, prosecco and presents, a special 'Christmas' quiz and Clive from the Magic Circle performed some close hand tricks!  Prizes were handed out to this years winners of the regular monthly quiz and unsold items from the Christmas Extravaganza were available for the members to buy.

Special thanks to all of our committee members who work so hard to make our meetings a success, and Merry Christmas everyone, see you all in 2020.

November 2019 Meeting

Thanks to Malcom Nelson for entertaining us with a very interesting talk about the practices of a Customs Officer detaining and arresting drug smugglers!  He had an important and extremely varied job and he is a very good speaker!

October 2019 Meeting

An exceptionally good time was had by all last night at the October Woodley WI meeting.  As it was our 4th birthday there was cake, a few glasses of bubbly and music provided by a Ukulele Band which was really good fun!

Some pretty fancy footwork when dancing to the 'Oki Coki' and 'Lets Twist Again' with some excellent WI vocals added to 'Delihah' and 'Ain't She Sweet'!

Two of our very own October birthday girls (Marion & Heather) cut the cake and then we had the usual business of the raffle, the quiz and finally the regular WI business/correspondence updates.

September 2019 Meeting

Woodley WI had another great presentation in the September meeting last night, courtesy of our guest Yvonne McAtamney who provided an extremely interesting 'Show and Tell' with some of the amazing quilting she has designed and created.

August 2019 Meeting

August's meeting was an informal and jolly one.
First a short walk and then a talk on Lea Farm Lake with high powered binoculars to help us see the wildlife there.  Thanks to Fraser and Bryan from Lavells Wetlands Trust.
Next an hour or so in a local pub which gave the members time to mingle  with and get to know each other better.
Overall the weather was kind and it was a very good evening.

July 2019 Meeting

The Woodley WI July meeting was yet another good one with an excellent presentation by our speaker Kamran of the SERV OBN Blood Bikes. Very interesting, lively and funny, and the SERV OBN Blood Bikes really do a great job.
